APPROVAL OF NEW ATHLETICE DIRECTOR/HEAD
FOOTBALL COACH FOR BAY CITY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Superintendent
Walton recommended Robert Blackmon as new Athletic Director and Head Football
Coach for Bay City ISD with a two year contract.
Trustee
Volkmer, seconded by Trustee Rutherford, made a motion to approve Robert
Blackmon as Athletic Director/Head Football Coach as recommended by the
superintendent. The motion carried by a
vote of 7-0.

Superintendent Richard Walton received
Carolyn Stone, custodian at Cherry Elementary, was honored
with
Becky Tipton, teacher, and Nancy Rodriguez, instructional
aide, at Cherry Elementary were awarded
The
SPOTLIGHT ON BCISD POLICE DEPARTMENT
BCISD Chief of Police, Leroy Cunningham, gave a presentation
on the ISD Police Department. The staff
consists of Lt. Gary Mathis, Officers Robert Pierce, Kim Crummett, Kenneth
Monroe, and Sandy Nelson. Donnye Stone
serves as secretary for the department.
Chief Cunningham stated his department is operating in a professional
and efficient manner. Officers have
received training in assault, family violence, and the Texas Education
Code. They have also been involved in an
Incident Command Training program. Chief
Cunningham said all radio systems are up-to-date. He also reported that with the help and
support of school administrators, calls from August 2006 - April 2007 were
reduced from 4,392 to 1,917 from August 2007 - January 2008.
The Board of Trustees thanked Chief Cunningham for his
presentation.

Trustee Powell, seconded by Trustee Crummett, made a motion
to approve the financial report as presented by the administration. The motion carried by a vote of 7-0.

Superintendent
Walton presented for board approval the 2008-2009 school calendars that were
tabled from the
Trustee Powell, seconded by Trustee Smith, made a motion to
approve the holiday calendar for the 2008-2009 school year.
The motion carried by a vote of 7-0.
Trustee Smith thanked Mr. Walton for his work and support of
the holiday calendar.

Walton recommended first reading approval of Board Policy Update 82, which centers
on policies regarding required participation in county appraisal districts,
employee health insurance coverage, energy conservation, and emergency
response.

ITEM #10 – RESOLUTION REGARDING
EXTRACURRICULAR STATUS OF 4-H ORGANIZATION
Superintendent Walton explained that the County Extension
Agents are asking that the
4-H organizations receive designation as a sanctioned
extracurricular activity in Bay City ISD and will be governed by all UIL rules.
Trustee Humphries, seconded by Trustee Rutherford, made a
motion to approve the resolution designating 4-H as an extracurricular
activity. The motion carried by a vote
of 7-0.

agenda book and page 61 of Legal Document Book VII.
ITEM #11 -
APPROVE CONTRACTS FOR ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL
Trustee Smith, seconded by Trustee Rutherford, made a motion
to approve the contracts for administrative personnel as presented. The motion carried by a vote of 7-0.

A. Filing Dates for
School Trustee Election - February 9, 2008 is the first day to file for a place
on the ballot. March 10, 2008 is the
last day to file for place on the ballot.

April 28, 2008 is the first day of early voting (by personal appearance) and
May 6, 2008 is the last day of early voting (by personal appearance).

Walton gave the Trustees the financial report for the 2007 football season.

and that the Blackcat swim team would be representing Bay City at the State
meet in Austin.
