Trustee Volkmer, seconded by Trustee Rutherford, made a motion to

AUDIENCE WITH PATRONS
Concerned citizen, Nelson Smith, addressed the board with
concerns about the Hilliard Campus. He
showed pictures of broken windows, tall grass and trash around the school. He stated that this is a hazard to the
community and dangerous for children and would like to see the property cleaned
and the windows boarded up. Mr. Walton
agreed and stated he would make sure the property is taken care of.
CELEBRATION OF EXCELLENCE
Nancy
Barkman, Bay City Middle School Teacher, and Paula Bricker, Cherry Elementary
Teacher, were awarded the Celebration of Excellence for Instruction and Positive
Publicity. Both teachers won awards from
the television program, Telemundo Houston, after
being nominated by their students as the "best teacher." Along with the award the Mrs. Bricker and Ms.
Barkman will be videoed in the classroom.
The teachers will be featured on Telemundo

SPOTLIGHT ON FFA
This will
be rescheduled due to the rodeo.

ITEM #9 - APPROVAL OF EQUIPMENT LEASE
FOR DIRECT RECORDING ELECTRONIC (DRE) VOTING MACHINES
Superintendent
Walton explained that The State of Texas now requires that all school district
elections must provide a Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) for individuals with
disabilities in order to facilitate their opportunity to vote. It is the administration's recommendation
that BCISD lease the equipment from

Lease for a Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting machine from

ITEM #10 - APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION FOR
ENERGY CONSUMPTION REDUCTION PLAN
Superintendent
Walton explained that Senate Bill 12 and House Bill 3693 requires
school districts to establish a goal to reduce annual electric consumption by
5% each year for the next six years. It
also states that monthly energy costs are to be posted on the District
webpage. The administration is
recommending the board of trustees approve a resolution as required by the
state.
Trustee
Smith, seconded by Trustee Volkmer, made a motion to
approve a resolution for an energy consumption reduction plan. The motion carried by a vote of 7-0.

Document Book VII.
ITEM #11 - SECOND
Superintendent
Walton recommended second reading approval of Board Policy Update 82, which
centers on policies regarding required participation in county appraisal
districts, employee health insurance coverage, energy conservation, and
emergency response.
