Come to school - every day!
Attendance:
One of our most important duties as parents is to instill good work habits in our children. Research shows that regular and punctual school attendance is essential to academic success. Students are to be in school, ready to begin learning at 7:55 a.m. every day.
Students who are ill should stay home until clear of fever for 24 hours. A signed note from the parent/guardian explaining the reason for the absence is required within three days. When a student returns to school, make-up homework assignments and tests will be given. However, there are often enrichment activities which cannot be reproduced. We do not wish to encourage students to come to school when ill, but want to remind parents that all activities and lessons taught in the classroom contribute to successful learning.
Cherry receives funding for the year based on daily attendance. Our accountability rating (recognized status) is also determined using attendance as an indicator.
