3/10/10 > Wednesday's announcements:

Seniors: Scholarship deadlines are fast approaching! The Matagorda County A&M Club Association Scholarship and the Matagorda County Farm Bureau Scholarship are due during spring break. Make sure you have requested transcripts and letters of recommendation needed to complete your applications.

Congratulations to the boys tennis doubles team of Adam Guay and Taylor Perez for placing second in the Hallettsville tournament yesterday. The mixed doubles team of Kristin Montalvo and Will Shindler placed third. The JV  plays host to their own tournament here tomorrow.

Last night, the varsity girls soccer shut out Palacios with a score of 4-0. Goals by Beronica Hidalgo, Haley Dibbern, Kathryn Grebe & Taylor Brown. Assists by Melissa Coleman & Lindsay Leissner. They play their last district game on Friday at home against Angleton. Game time is 6pm. Come show your support Friday! Make a sign and make some noise!!

Balfour will be here today during both lunches to distribute graduation annoucements.

JV girls soccer shut out Brazosport last Friday with a score of 1-0, goal by Taylor Nussle. Monday night, they shut out Lamar with a score of 3-0, goals by April Orozco, Ann Marie Nguyen and Taylor Nussle. The assists came from April. They finished their season with the best JV record so far, 7-4-1.

Congratulations to the boys varsity soccer team for their 8-1 win over Palacios. Goals were scored by Stephen Painter, Rembran Garcia, Zach Morris, 2 by Aaron Sanford and 3 by Stephen Cortez. Other standouts were Nick McConaha, Edwin Estrada, Anthony Nguyen, Mark Solis, Enrique Garay and Gerardo Mendoza.

The following athletes need to pick up their letterman jacket. Please see Mrs. Osborne in the Athletic Department:  E'Braylone Allen, Anthony DeLeon, Shane Reynal, Ronald Rivera, Chuck Seals, Alysa Vargas, Edward Wells.

Students who plan to take the SAT this Saturday, March 13th, need to stop by Student Services and make sure your name is on the list.  You will need to be here at 7:30am Saturday morning in the cafeteria.  Bring your admission tickets, ID, two #2 pencils and a calculator.  You may also bring a snack.

Students: If you are missing shoes, bags, or clothing items, please stop by the lost and found in the front office.  You will need to describe your item.

Cheerleader applications are ready!  All guys and girls interested in becoming a cheerleader or mascot for the 2010-2011 school year please pick up an application at the front office.  Application deadline is Wednesday, March 10, 2010 by 4 pm.  Turn in applications to Coach Frank James or Coach Erin Cooper-Talasek. 

All yearbook reserve orders can be made with Mrs. Hudson in B125.  There are less than 100 books left, so reserve a copy today.  All books are $60.

It's time to sign up for AP Exams!!  Come see Mrs. Jernigan in Student Services to sign up.  Each exam will cost $56.  Fee assistance is available for those that qualify.  The deadline to pay for your exam is March 25.  If you do NOT pay by the deadline, you will NOT be allowed to test.  Take care of this immediately.

Senior FFA members have been called to come by Becca Sitz office to pick up their scholarship applications. If for some reason you are a Senior that is a member of FFA and you were not called to her office, please contact her to pick one up. They are due back to her by April 6th at the end of the school day.

The Art League of Bay City is having our Semi-Annual Judged Show, the 30th of March 2010 with registration the 26th & 27th of March. Registration will be from 1pm to 6:30pm the 26th and from 1pm to 4pm on the 27th at the Matagorda County Museum located in Bay City. Reception will be held the 30th of March in the Garden Room of the museum at 4pm to 6:30pm. We have 4 levels of student divisions, and 6 categories of artwork, K-2nd; 3-4th-5th; 6th, 7th, 8th; 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th. The show is also open to adults.
