Employee
Recognition
Maxine Ruiz, ESL Aide at BCHS, is the February recipient of the BCISD Employee Recognition honor "You've Got Heart." Ruiz was nominated by BCHS English and ESL teacher Michael Orozco, pictured at left, who wrote, "Maxine is a genuinely concerned and dedicated person who maintains and provides continuity in daily operations. Maxine goes above and beyond her normal duties and cares about the welfare and education of our ESL students. She listens and communicates with teachers and students when unexpected needs arise."
Ruiz has brought the traveling trophy donated by Ad Vantage Specialties to BCHS for the month, and was awarded a gift certificate.
BCISD Staff: To nominate someone for this monthly honor, pick up a form at your campus and/or department, or fill out the online form.

Mayor visits Holmes
Mayor Richard Knapik visited Holmes Elementary March 4 and spoke to kindergarten classes. He also paid a visit to the kindergarten's Bay City Box Community project that kindergarten students and teachers created. The small city fills an entire room! Come check it out this week. Parent Involvement Day would be a good day to do so -- this Friday!

Why fill out the form?
Every 10 years, the Census Bureau counts everyone living in the U.S. to determine congressional representation and the distribution of federal funds back to communities and school systems. On or about March 15, Census questionnaires will arrive in your mailboxes. Fill it out and mail it back. It's 10 questions, will take about 10 minutes to complete, and will affect the next 10 years of our lives.
