Elementary art projects presented
in ArtSmart 2013 Gallery

Jackie Gorman's GT/Enrichment kindergarten through third grade students displayed their end-of-year projects during their ArtSmart 2013 Gallery shows at the Bay City ISD elementary campuses May 22 through June 3.
According to Gorman, the projects incorporated all the skills the students had been developing during the school year. In addition, each student was required to present their individual projects and share them to various audiences.
The showing at Cherry Elementary featured five collections. "Our Colorful Garden" is a "community" garden collection that focuses on color mixing using tissue paper collage techniques the students studied in their famous artists studies.
"The Shape Zoo" collection displays students' use of geometric shapes used in collage form like that of famous artists to construct zoo animals.
"Silhouette Action Figures" works emphasize line used to create the illusion of movement, also incorporating textured backgrounds and silhouette shapes.
"My Starry Night" is the students' renditions of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" where the students were asked to focus on balance and perspective using crayon resist.
"My Five Dots" collection is the kindergarten students adaptation of Donald Crew's "10 Black Dots" counting book, in which the students emphasized shape and details using five dots.
