COME ON AN ADVENTURE WITH ME AND FROGSTREET PRESS--2012-2013

Welcome!  My name is Diana Shindler. This is my 26th year of teaching in public school. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I graduated from Sam Houston State University . I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with certificates in Early Childhood and Kindergarten. My minor is in Physical Education on the Elementary Level. I also taught one year at Sunshine and Rainbows when they added another three year old class. My goal is to maintain a well organized classroom and establish daily routines. Once I teach classroom procedures, different learning experiences happen simultaneously. I encourage independence and responsibility both in behavior and class work. I love this age group. For many, this is their first school experience and I want to make it a fun learning environment and produce "independent thinkers".

Read To Me Books are a very important part of your child's learning experience. Please make it a part of your daily routine. Your child should have a set bedtime. Hopefully, after a bath and dressed for bed, a member of your child's family will read to them. Once the book is read, ask your child if they can point to a certain letter, or ask a simple question about the book. You will be surprised how you can build on your child's vocabulary. This will be part of your child's school responsibility to take the bookbag out of their backpack and place it on Mrs. Newell's table at the beginning of our day. They will be reminded several times, of course. At the end of the six weeks, I will give 1st, 2nd and 3rd place certificates for the most take home books read.

SCHOOL MESSENGER: KEEP PHONE NUMBER CURRENT. YOU WILL RECEIVE AN AUTOMATED PHONE CALL FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT/SCHOOL CONCERNING IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SCHOOL CLOSURES, EMERGENCIES, ETC.........

  Parent/Car Pick-Ups

1. All parents will need to place their child's name card in the front window. Parents without this card will be asked to park and go to the front office to get their child.

2. Pre-K students will be picked up in the bus zone.

3. If someone other than you picks up your child, make sure they have your child's name card with them. Please call and let us know.

When your child is absent, I need a written excuse when he/she returns to school. I turn this in to the office and it is kept in your child's folder. If your child is absent longer than 3 days they must have a Dr.'s return to school slip. Pre-K abides by the same laws of any other public school student.
