     Background Checks --

    • Do BCISD Employees or Substitutes need to complete a Volunteer Application?

      No. As part of your application process with the district, your criminal history was checked. You had to pass the background check to be eligible for employment.

    • Who pays for the background check?

      The school district pays for the actual background check, which is part of the Voly registration.

    • How do I know if I am approved?

      You will receive an e-mail letting you know the status of your background check, once it is complete. You can also log into your account and find out the status of your application. Log in at https://baycityisd.voly.org, then select "My Dashboard" in the upper right part of the page, then select "My Applications." 

       
      Quick Tips: 
       
      • I can’t open my account.

        • Confirm user is not using Internet Explorer.
        • Confirm user is at baycityisd.voly.org
        • Confirm they are using the right email
        • No spaces before or after email
        • No spaces before or after password


          How to complete an application (if it was started but not finished.)

          The full application is several pages long. If you did not finish the application, we cannot complete the registration process. You must therefore log back in and complete the full application AND online orientation.  Follow these instructions:

          • Go to baycityisd.voly.org
          • Click the LOG IN button
          • Log in with your email and password that you created.
          • Once logged in, click on "My Application" in upper part of the page.
          • Then click on "Application."
          • Check the "consent to background check", and compete the entire form.
          • Click the SAVE/SUBMIT button.  You can choose either English or Spanish orientation.
          • Upon completion of the online orientation please provide an electronic signature by clicking the appropriate button.

          How to complete the online orientation

          Go to baycityisd.voly.org
          Click the LOG IN button
          Log in with your email and password that you created.
          Once logged in, click on "My Application" in upper part of the page.
          Then click on "Orientation."
          View the slideshow.

          Upon completion of the online orientation please provide an electronic signature by clicking the appropriate button.
          Click the SAVE/SUBMIT button.

      • How do I “consent to background check” box?

        • Go to baycityisd.voly.org
        • Click on the LOG IN button and log in with your email and password
        • Once you are logged in look at the top of the page and click "My Applications."
        • Now look  for "Application" and click it.
        • This will open the application.  Please make sure you have selected GENERAL for Volunteer Type.  And PLEASE check the “consent to background check” box (above your name). (BCISD staff & students under 18 years old do not do the background check, as staff already has completed a background check.)
        • Click the SAVE/SUBMIT button at the bottom.

      • How do I become a fan of the school?

        • Go to baycityisd.voly.org
        • Click on the LOG IN button and log in with your email and password.
        • Once you are logged in look for SCHOOLS to the right of the Bay City ISD logo
        • Click the word SCHOOLS
        • Enter School Name in the Search Bar and hit ENTER.
        • When the School logo appears, click it.
        • When the School page opens look for the “Become a Fan” box.
        • Click that box so it changes color and says “I am a fan.”

      • How do I unsubscribe from emails?

        • Go to baycityisd.voly.org
        • Click the LOG IN button
        • Log in with your email and password that you created.
        • Once logged in, click on "My Profile" in the menu bar.
        • In the menu list click on "Access & Notifications."
        • At the bottom of the screen under "Notification Settings" you can update your email preferences.
        • Click the SAVE INFORMATION button.

      • I can’t reset my password. What I got from the automated system isn’t working.

        • Make sure email is correct.
        • Make sure there are no spaces before or after the password.
        • Wait 5 minutes.
        • Request a new password.
        • Last option is to contact asliva@baycityisd.org

        Note: Chrome, Safari, or Firefox are the recommended browsers. Please do not use Internet Explorer.

      • I didn’t receive a background clearance email. How do I know if I’m cleared?

        You can see your background clearance status at any time. 

        • Go to baycityisd.voly.org
        • Click the LOG IN button
        • Log in with your email and password that you created.
        • Once logged in, click on "My Application" in the menu bar.
        • Then click on "Application" in the menu list.
        • Directly above your name is the current status of your background check


        Can a volunteer creat a Voly account if he/she does not have an email address?

        A volunteer can create a VOLY account using their cell phone number, such as Ex. 9792455555@txt.att.net

        • Go to https://baycityisd.voly.org
        • The right side of the page says “Don’t have an email? Use your cell number and carrier extension.”
        • Below the link is text that reads, “Click here for instructions” to go through the process of using your cell number to create an email account.

          Parents are encouraged to create a free Gmail account. They can use this email account for other district-related tools including online registration and parent portal.

        How can a volunteer change his/her email address in the Voly account? 

        Volunteer should log into his/her account.

        • Go to https://baycityisd.voly.org
        • On the dashboard, click My Profile
        • In the menu on the left, click Access & Notifications
        • Near the top of the page is "Privacy Settings"
        • Click the Edit link that is beside "Privacy Settings" and change the email address
        • The volunteer may be required to enter his/her password to validate the email address change
        • Finally, click the Save Information button


        ·How can a volunteer change his/her password in Voly?

        Go to https://baycityisd.voly.org

        • Log into the account using the volunteer email address and password
        • On the dashboard, click on My Profile
        • In the menu on the left, click Access & Notifications
        • Near the top of the page is "Privacy Settings"
        • Scroll down if necessary until a link called Change My Password is visible, located just below the volunteer email address
        • Click this link and follow prompts
        • Click the Save Information button


        ·Can volunteers track their own hours with their Voly accounts?

        Volunteers can log and track their own hours that are attached to a volunteer opportunity.  The volunteer must be checked in to that opportunity. Once that happens, the volunteer can log hours themselves any time, from their account, by following these steps:

        • Log in as a volunteer at https://baycityisd.voly.org
        • Click on ‘My Hours’ on the dashboard
        • Select ‘Log Hours’
        • Click on the opportunity you want to log hours for
        • Follow the prompts.

         

        ·What happens if a volunteer signs up for an opportunity but has to cancel? 

        The volunteer goes to the calendar and removes him/herself from this shift/event by merely unclicking their participation. They are then removed from that shift/event in VOLY.  VOLY does send an email to the campus contact in charge of that event advising this has happened. In addition, when the campus contact is reviewing the opportunity they will see there is an open slot now.
