Bay City HS Cheerleader/Mascot TRYOUTS - Thursday, March 11th 2021 @ 5:00
This is the First Step. We will be checking grades, attendance,discipline,any outstanding balances for library, textbooks, technology, student clubs, athletics, etc. All balances must be paid in full by January 29.
If you do not qualify you will be notified.
Deadline for Sign ups are - January 29th @ 4:00 *No Exceptions*
Second step- All candidates must attend the Parent Meeting in order to Tryout.

Seniors: Get that FAFSA application in! The application deadline for TX is January 15. You much complete it if you plan on attending a jr college, 4 year college, or technical school next school year. 10th-12th graders: Are you interested in joining the military? Or do you just want to discover potential career options? The ASVAB exam will take place here at BCHS on Wednesday, January 27th at 8am. Sign up with Mrs. Jernigan in Student Services asap. Saturday the swim teams hosted a dual meet with Katy’s St. John XXIII.
Girls’ team score: SJXIII 86 – BC 51
Bay City’s lone double winner was Glory Vargas (12) in the 200 & 100 freestyles. Suhana Khondker (09) took the top spot in the 100 backstroke and Lucie Frick (09) added a win in the 200 individual medley. Megan Moya (09) added second places in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Frick, Vargas, Moya, and Khondker lapped the competition while winning the 400 freestyle relay.
Boys’ team score: BC 77 – SJXXIII 58
Michael Vargas (10) was a double winner for the boys, taking wins in the 50 & 100 freestyles. Matthew Brooks (11) won the 200 free, Ashton Wallace (10) was first in 1 meter diving, and Chris Peralta (11) swam to a win in the 100 butterfly.
Jordan Wright (12) was runner-up in the 200 individual medley, Felix Rodriguez (10) added a second-place finish in the 100 free, and Daniel Dye (11) was 2nd in the 100 backstroke.
Rodriguez, Brooks, Peralta, & Dye opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay.
Bay City also won the 200 free relay with the combination of Dye, Rodriguez, Brooks, & Vargas.
Combined team scores: SJXXIII 144 – BC 128
Our girls finished the regular season 6-2, the boys were 8-0, and we were 7-1 in combined team scoring.
Some of you might have already started receiving TSI testing passes. The TSI is a college readiness test all juniors are scheduled to take unless you are already in dual credit classes. The first exam you take will be the ELA section and at a later date you will take the math. You will receive a pass the day before to let you know when you are testing and where to report. Good luck! Are you interested in going to college or taking a dual credit class next year? Then sign up for the TSI Test to find out if you are college ready. Test sessions are available for this Saturday, Jan 16th and Saturday, January 23rd at 9am. Sign up using the qr code or visit Ms. Lopez in Student Services. Space is limited!
Auditions, Auditions, Auditions!
It’s time to audition for the UIL One Act Play!
The UIL One Act play is the competition play for Bay City HS. The company has been a state or regional finalist for the last 5 years.
WHEN: The Bay City High School Dungeoneers will be holding a virtual read through as a pre audition on Monday, January 11 and Tuesday, January 12 from 6-8 pm. We will read through 2 different plays on Zoom.
In-person auditions will be held Thursday, January 14 at 6:00 pm in the theater. Anyone interested in being part of the technical crew should be sure to come to Thursday auditions!
All rehearsals and company will be in person during the duration of the show.
