6th Grade Beginner Choir
All 6th Grade students choosing choir as their elective will be assigned Beginner Choir class. Students will learn to read music, how to sing properly with good breathing techniques. 6th Grade Beginner Choir students are expected to attend and perform in both the holiday and spring concerts.
6th Grade students will also need to supply their own choir uniform, consisting of black long slacks, white button down collared dress shirt (short or long sleeve) and black dress shoes. They will be required to present their uniform at school to Mrs. Suggs in November for a grade. Boys will need a black clip on tie also.
7th and 8th Grades Varsity and Non-Varsity Choirs
7th and 8th grade students choosing choir as their elective will be assigned Advanced Choir Class. Students will expand on the fundamentals of music and expand their repertoire. Their appreciation of many different styles and genres of music will grow. They will sing in foreign languages with expression and expertise. The goal for this choir is "Excellence" in all manner of performance. These students are expected to attend and perform in both holiday and spring concerts.
Girl students in Advanced Choir will wear Choir formals. They will be responsible for purchasing and wearing black low healed dress shoes. They are required to return the formal dress to Mrs. Suggs within 3 school days of the concerts.
Boys in Advanced Choir will need to buy black dress slacks and black dress shoes. The Choir will furnish them with a white tuxedo shirt and black tuxedo vest for concerts. They are required to return the Tuxedo shirt and vest to Mrs. Suggs within 3 school days of the concerts.
Varsity Choir is the Premiere performing treble choir at BCJH. The choir is an auditioned choir of 7th and 8th grade students who are chosen by Mrs. Suggs because of their proficiency and musicality along with a great attitude and desire to grow as a choir student.
All Varsity choir students are expected to attend and perform in the pep rallies, Region Choir Auditions, Solo and Ensemble Contest as well as both the Holiday and Spring Concerts.
They will be loaned a formal dress from the choir for the performances, and these dresses must be returned no later than 3 school days after the concerts. They will also need to wear dressy black close toed shoes with the formal.
They can be removed from this Honor Choir according to the handbook at Mrs. Suggs' discretion.
