Firstly, thank you for making the first few days of school such a success. It’s been a pleasure watching all of us collaborate and create a great learning atmosphere despite the challenges we’ve faced.
We’d like to clear up some confusion that has arisen over the district’s policy regarding facial coverings. Bay City ISD follows directives from the Texas Education Agency’s Public Health Planning Guidance in this area. As such, please be aware of the following clarifications to the district’s Blackcat Blueprint policy:
All students and staff age 10 or older are required to wear a non-medical grade face mask covering the nose and mouth. Students age 9 or younger have the option to wear a face shield instead of a face mask.
Parents may provide a cloth mask for their child. Bay City ISD will have extra cloth masks should an employee or student forget their mask.
Students utilizing bus transportation will be required to wear face masks or face shields (depending on age) while on the bus.
Any campus visitors will be required to wear a face mask in order to enter the campus building.
Students that have opted for In-Person Instruction will begin returning to campuses in phases starting Tuesday, Sept. 1. These updates to policy are in effect as of Friday, Aug. 28.
