Bay City ISD Superintendent Dr. Marshall Scott III has received an official commendation from the Senate of the State of Texas.
Senate Proclamation No. 390 commends Dr. Scott for being awarded the 2020 Region 3 Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Association of School Boards, and states that the Senate holds him in "high regard."
"Under his leadership, the district has successfully engaged the community, strengthened its focus on student achievement, and enhanced its technological capabilities," the proclamation reads. "Dr. Scott has promoted the implementation of innovative staff development and support programs and rigorous postsecondary preparedness curricula. He has encouraged forward-thinking approaches to current and future challenges faced by the district.
"An exemplary educator and administrator, Dr. Scott has played a major role in making the Bay City Independent School District the first-rate school system it is today."
The proclamation was signed by Lois Kolkhorst, the State Senator representing Bay City's home of District 18.
