BCHS students sweep Voice of Democracy

Bay City High School students swept the top three spots in the Veterans of Foreign Wars' "Voice of Democracy" contest.

The contest, sponsored by local VFW post 2438, challenges students to write and record a 3-5 minute speech to submit for judging. This year's topic was "America: Where Do We Go From Here?"
Alyssa Castro took first place, with Rachelle Larson and Troy Gilbert coming in second and third. Each student performed their speech at a banquet held Tuesday night at the VFW post.
Castro, Larson and Gilbert will all receive a scholarship for their performances.
