Kanye Gee, a junior at Bay City High School, inked his first professional contract Thursday night and entered the world of professional boxing.
Gee, 17, signed with "Boxing With Termite," a promotional company directed by former prizefighter Maurice "Termite" Watkins. Palacios's Tim Longoria also signed a contract with Watkins.
Gee has been in more than 60 amateur fights and has competed in Golden Gloves for several years. He's set to make his professional debut on Thursday, Jan. 13 at the Pasadena Convention Center against Richard Parker.
BCISD Superintendent Dr. Marshall Scott III, BCHS Principal Estela Reyes and BCHS Athletic Director Warren Trahan were among the many on hand to congratulate Gee on becoming a pro.
