Scott Savage joins BCISD as Facilities and Maintenance Director

Scott Savage has joined Bay City ISD as the district's new Facilities and Maintenance Director.

Savage is a native of Bay City. He graduated from Bay City High School in 2005, and attended Texas A&M University in College Station where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Systems Management in 2009. He has been married to Amberly Savage for 10 years, and the couple have three daughters under the age of eight.

Before joining the district, Savage worked in transportation services for Texas A&M while in college. He has managed his family farm for the last 12 years, has been involved in many local, state, and national level boards, and has extensive leadership training.

At BCISD, Savage will take on a variety of roles. Primarily, he will focus on maintaining a physical environment on campuses that is functional, safe, clean, and attractive. He'll lead a staff of nearly five dozen employees across the district's maintenance and custodial departments.

"I thought this would be a good combination of a hands-on career and allow me to use my leadership skills to fit the director position," Savage said.

Though he's only been on the job for a few weeks, Savage already has plenty of goals lined up.

"I want to better the department and school district," he said. "Keeping our facilities maintained is a necessity. Student and staff comfort and safety is my top priority."

Savage said the district's three new campuses and new multi-purpose stadium are major benefits to his department.

"We have nice new facilities," he said. "We have to keep them looking and performing the way they were designed."

While his first few weeks on the job were a "whirlwind," he said, he's already hit the ground running.

"I made it a priority to meet all 57 employees in my department," Savage said. "I have some fantastic employees I am really looking forward to working with.

"I am going to really like the position. I love being able to get out and check on projects and keep an eye on the facilities. This will be a career in which I will always be learning."
