The Bay City ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2022-23 Academic Calendar for the district at the regular board meeting on Monday, Feb. 7.
The calendar was developed by the Education Improvement Council campus committee members, comprised of students, staff and family. Staff members, parents, and the community were invited to vote on one of two calendar options presented by the EIC.
The calendar includes 173 days of instruction, with 169 full days and four early release days. There are also 11 staff personal development days and three staff workdays.
This gives the district a total of 79,110 instructional minutes. Bay City ISD will have 3,510 minutes, or the equivalent of 7.8 days, to be banked away in case of inclement weather or other needs.
The first semester will be a total of 81 days, stretching from Aug. 17 to Dec. 16. Students and staff will enjoy a full week off for Thanksgiving from Nov. 21 to Nov. 25 and two weeks at the winter break from Dec. 19 to Dec. 30. There will be a teacher workday on Jan. 2 and a staff development day on Jan. 3.
The second semester begins Jan. 4 and runs for 92 days. Spring break will be from March 13 to March 17, with a staff development day on March 20. The semester ends on May 25.
