BCHS DECA advances six to State

Bay City High School sent six DECA students to compete in District competition at Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas on January 19th. All six scored high enough to qualify for the state DECA conference and competition in Dallas on February 21-23rd.

Melissa G and Heidi B competed in the Community Service Event.  They held a blanket, book, and bear drive earlier this school year and made up care bags to give to CPS and police officers for any emergency situations for little people.

Rachel S and Hannah S competed in the Learn and Earn Event.  They created January 2019 through June 2019 school calendars with pictures from Bay City High School featured on each month’s page.

Aislyn M competed in Principles of Finance Series Event where she took a written test and participated in a role play based on scenarios associated with careers in accounting, banking services, business finance, insurance and securities, and investments.

Megan S competed in Restaurant and Food Service Management Series where she also took a written test and participated in a role- play.  Her role play was associated with aspects of marketing and management functions/tasks in a full service restaurant or a food service business.

The DECA program prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
