BCHS diver headed to State Meet; Swim & Dive team places 3rd at District
Bay City Swim and Dive traveled to Sugar Land February 1st and 2nd for the Region VII-5A championships. Stephen E qualified for the state meet with a second place finish in diving. This is the second consecutive year he has qualified for State. He'll have two weeks to prepare for the trip to Austin.
The boys and girls each finished 12th in the team standings. The girls finished 12th out of 24 teams, while the boys finished 12th out of 21 teams. That's the best overall finish in many years, according to head coach Bob Button
Button said, “I didn't think we looked very sharp Friday. We looked a little better in Saturday's finals. Getting all girl and boy relays into finals was a big step for us.”

Boys 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, 12th – Stephen E, Matthew B, Daniel D, and Chris P
Bay City High School traveled to Victoria for the District 27-5A Swimming and Diving Championships on January 18-19th.
BCHS divers won the 1-meter diving in both the boys and girls divisions with great dives from Stephen E and Alondra C.
Stephen also won gold in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
BCHS Diving Coach Clare Button was named District Boys and Girls Diving Coach of the Year. BCHS Swim Coach Bob Button shared District Coach of the Year honors with the Victoria West coach.

The combined teams finished third overall.
