BCHS Robotics teams make finals at Region; qualifies for STATE
The Bay City High School Robotics teams competed at the Southeast Texas First Tech Challenge Regional Robotics Championship at San Jacinto College on February 23rd. BCHS sent two teams – the Decepticats and Avenge-a-cats -- both of whom ended up competing in the final four round of the competition.
The Avenge-a-cats qualified for the final four as the fourth seed, while the Decepticats were invited by the first-seed team to partner with them in the final-four round.
The BCHS team has qualified for the State contest. This is the second year that BCHS has fielded robotics teams. The State contest is the FIRST Tech Challenge / UIL Robotics State Championship 1A-4A Event on Friday, April 5th, 2019 at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, Texas 78704.
Team head coach Michael Ashleman said that the teams have both worked hard and overcome some adversity regarding equipment failures. “These team members really did put the robots together themselves.
